If Friar Tuck himself had presided over the nuptials, the marriage of Alex Ross and Emme Roberts could not have been a more Robin Hood affair. In August, our longtime camper, counselor, director and dear friend Alex Ross married Emme Roberts in the UK, whom he met five years ago when Emme traveled from England to be Robin Hood’s archery counselor. On Aug. 17, they repeated their vows in a beautiful ceremony in downtown New York, at the trendy Standard High Line Hotel overlooking the Hudson, with several camp friends in attendance.
Among many of the couple’s close friends and family members were Robin Hood alumni, starting with Alex’s sister, Amanda Ross, as well as Chis Knoblock, Brenna Healy, Will Randolph, Jennifer Judge, Caroline Gill, Will Bergin and Gaby Romanos.
Weeks later the newlyweds set sail on the Queen Elizabeth II to set up household in London.
Alex’s passion for Robin Hood is well known, and he loves to tell stories of his first summer, arriving from New York with bunkmates Will Randolph, Will Bergin and Nick Hoagland. After nine years as a camper he returned as a swimming counselor before taking over the arrivals and departures directorship, becoming indispensible and returning year after year. It was hard to see him move on after 18 summers with us, but Alex has since found another passion in organizing hospitality at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, and FIFA World Cup in Brazil 2014 with GMR Marketing.
The Robin Hood family wishes Alex and Emme the very best in their new life together and we hope to see them return for many summers to the place where they first fell in love, on the lake and by the sea.
