Hair Sherwood Forest
Hail the brave and free
Verdant haunt of true comradeship
Our hearts we raise to thee
Cares we leave behind us
When here we come to dwell
Thine alone be sport and laughter
Our good cheer to tell
And when we gather ‘neath thy boughs’
What e’er the time may be,
For sport or work or campfire song
One jolly company,
The standards of old Robin Hood
We ever shall hold fast
And keep a steadfast brotherhood
Til Sherwood days are past
On the lake and by the sea
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
We stand again and sing to thee
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Where friendships formed are ever new
Where loyal hearts beat tried and true
In youthful days of brotherhood
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
In olden days of long ago
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Roamed through the forest with his bow
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Now years have passed and time has fled
Yet still his spirit walks ahead
And we would follow if we could
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Now let us sing out loud and clear
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Be ye a Scarlet or a Green
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
And when our last campfire has burned
We’ll not forget what we have learned
From him who strong for honor stood
Robin Hood, dear Robin Hood
Once more our quiet greenwood council ends
And with our thoughts of peaceful twilight blends
All cares and troubles now are put to rest
That with refreshing sleep we may be blessed
We thank Thee, Father for thy loving care.
Teach us, each one, we pray his part to bear.
Fit us to meet the morrow’s tasks with cheer
And never fear – – while Thou art near.
O Stand and cheer for Robin Hood
For Robin wins today
Just the same as in the long ago
When he drew his first long bow
Aim well and shoot again…
Victory or die,
And we’ll give a grand ol’ cheer, NOW!
As the shafts go flying by.
Hear that shout! – – Let it out!
What’s that cheering all about?
Robin Hood – that’s the best place to be.
Over hill, over dale
As we hit the ocean trail
While we camp on the lake by the sea
Then it’s hil hil ho!
Scarlets:
The greens are very slow
We know that scarlet’s sure to win
Greens:
Scarlets sure are slow
We know the greens are bound to win!
All:
Where’er you go
You will always know
There’s a good band at old Robin Hood
There’s a good Band at Robin Hood
I am glad that I’m back in Sherwood
I am glad that I am Free
Don’t call me a city dependant
I’m rich in scenery!
The wood’s my home and the bow’s my profession
Mother Nature is queen
And I’ll say in solemn confession
I’ll take the Lincoln Green!
As the winter goes by and the days grow long
I always feel the need of
The sails and the song and the happy throngs
The Robin Hood spirit that we dream of!
I am glad that I’m back in Sherwood
I am glad that I am free!
And I’ll say without any persuasion
You’ll take the lake – YES
You’ll take the cake YES
You’ll take the lake that’s by –the-sea!
Oh, when you see that curtain part oh, oh, oh
Then you know the show will start oh, oh, oh
Turn out your light and put on your cat
We’re gonna make you sit on your hat, oh
Grab your hat and grab your coat
